Abstract

The United States and China had been in an economic rivalry since quite long. The United States, a superpower, gained independence from Britain and since the Second Industrial Revolution; it has made significant economic progress due to which it enjoys huge influence on the entire world. China’s economic growth begun after 1978 as it established good trade relations with foreign countries. After the disintegration of USSR a new cold war emerged between China and US. China initiated its Belt and Road initiative in 2013 to boost its economic growth, and through this project China sought to connect itself with Asian countries by sea and through roads and routes. In order to counter this project US has   signed the Blue Dot Network. The rivalry between the two countries, the United States and China, has a significant impact on Pakistan's economy, but Pakistan should maintain good relations with both the United States and China in terms of trade, imports and exports. The study explored the emergence of US-China rivalry. The study also focused on the fact that how China’s growing economy is a threat to the US. This research has also examined the impacts of US-China rivalry on Pakistan. Moreover, the data collected is qualitative based on secondary sources.
